SEAVIEW PACKING obtained its name by its association with one of the ranches here in the Coachella Valley. The Seaview Ranch, located off Highway 86 near Avenue 84 in the Oasis area of the Coachella Valley, was the business location for Seaview Packing, Inc. over the last few years. Seaview Ranch has a reputation for the sweetest grapefruit here in the valley. "The Ranch", as we call it, grows not only grapefruit but several acres of Medjool Dates.
Seaview Packing, Inc. has been in operation since 1994. In 1997, the packing company has acquired a long-term lease of the cooling shed formerly used by Sunworld, Inc. for the cooling of grapes in the Coachella Valley. The building is located on Avenue 52, just east of the new Highway 111 expressway in the City of Coachella.
The original building contained 17,300 square feet of receiving and cooling, along with 2,500 square feet of offices and was constructed in 1976. The building's sole purpose was to pre-cool grapes grown here in the Coachella Valley. When Sunworld acquired the building in 1979, it added an additional 8,800 square feet of cooling and 3,300 square feet of shipping area with loading docks. The building is now over 31,000 square feet with plenty of room for expansion.
Seaview Packing, Inc. currently has plans for utilizing the facility for cooling vegetables and packing medjool dates. Our plans include the implementation of state of the art equipment for fumigation, cleaning and grading of medjool dates. Our plan to be the largest, most efficient and cost effective medjool date packer in all of California will soon become a reality. The quality of the packing process will remain our utmost concern.
