As the weather begins to warm up some, the trees begin to grow tremendously. The dates are just about the size of a marble 1/8" to 1/4" in diameter. As the dates grow in size they will soon be breaking out of the pollination bags which were place on last month.
The thinning process begins later this month. Our employees hand thin each date strand within the bunches. They ascend up the tall palm trees with the use of our date platforms attached to forklifts. These platforms have protective railings and surround the entire palm tree trunk. The employees can freely move around the entire tree within the safety of these platforms. Smaller palm trees can be thinned on the ground or with ladders.
