ITS HARVEST TIME! The medjool dates are in the ripening process and harvesting is underway. There are many people moving about with field harvesting, trucking the medjools from the field into our packing facility and packing the dates are all underway.
Our coolers are turned on in the packing house in order to keep the dates fresh from field through packing. In the packing house several employees are busy cleaning, grading and packing the medjools. Lots of busy people working hard during the harvest!
The medjool dates ripen from the bottom of the bunches towards the top. During our first pick, we open the bottom of the date bags which were placed on the bunches last month. Once the bottom of the bag is open, we hand pick each ripe date off the strands where they have been growing. The bag is resealed at the bottom and the remaining dates will be picked later, once they have ripened.
